Colposcopy is a magnified examination of the cervix with a special microscope, used after an abnormal Pap smear or a high-risk HPV result. At Sinsoe Women's Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, female OB-GYNs offer cervicography, a detailed photo of the cervix, which is ₩35,000 on the clinic's published fee schedule (June 2026, confirm before your visit). Whether colposcopy itself is available for you needs to be confirmed. Message the English-speaking coordinator with your result and a doctor will advise.
Availability: Sinsoe confirms cervicography, a magnified photo of the cervix (₩35,000 on the published fee schedule, June 2026), together with Pap and HPV DNA testing. Whether colposcopy with biopsy is available for you is decided case by case.
Colposcopy is a follow-up exam, not a screening test. It is used when a Pap smear or HPV test suggests the cervix needs a closer look.
The doctor uses a colposcope, a microscope on a stand that stays outside your body, to see the cervix magnified. A mild vinegar or iodine solution makes abnormal areas easier to see.
If an area looks unusual, a small biopsy can be taken. The biopsy result shows whether there are cell changes (CIN) and how serious they are.
Your doctor looks at your Pap result, HPV type and history together.
| Your result | Usual next step |
|---|---|
| ASC-US with high-risk HPV | Colposcopy is often advised |
| LSIL | Often colposcopy or repeat testing, depending on age and history |
| HSIL or ASC-H | Colposcopy is recommended |
| HPV 16 or 18 positive | Colposcopy may be advised even with a normal Pap |
| AGC (glandular cells) | Colposcopy plus further tests of the uterus |
