HPV vaccination protects you against the human papillomavirus types that cause most cervical cancers and genital warts. At Sinsoe Women's Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, female doctors give Gardasil 9, which covers nine HPV types. It costs ₩250,000 per dose on the clinic's published fee schedule (June 2026, confirm before your visit). Adults usually need 3 doses over 6 months, and an English-speaking coordinator reminds you when each one is due.
HPV is a very common virus passed on by skin-to-skin sexual contact. Most people catch it at some point. Usually the body clears it, but some types can cause cervical cell changes, cancer or genital warts.
The HPV vaccine teaches your immune system to recognise these types before you meet them. Gardasil 9 protects against types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58, which cause most cervical cancers, and types 6 and 11, which cause most genital warts.
It works best before you are exposed, but many adults still benefit. The vaccine does not treat an HPV infection you already have.
The best time is before you become sexually active, but it is not too late for most adults.
