The basics

What is infertility treatment?

Infertility treatment starts with finding out why pregnancy is not happening. For women, the main questions are: are you ovulating, how many eggs remain (ovarian reserve), are the tubes open, and is the uterus healthy? For men, a semen analysis is a key first test.

In about a third of couples the cause is found in the woman, in about a third in the man, and in the rest both partners or no clear cause. That is why both partners are usually tested.

Treatment depends on the cause. It can be as simple as medicine to help ovulation or removing a polyp, or it can involve IUI (insemination) or IVF (in vitro fertilization) at a fertility center.

The work-up What a fertility check-up can include

  • AMH test for ovarian reserve
  • Pelvic ultrasound for fibroids, polyps, cysts and follicle count
  • Hormone tests such as FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin and thyroid
  • Checking ovulation over a cycle
  • A test of the fallopian tubes
  • Semen analysis for your partner

To confirm with the coordinator

  • IUI, IVF, tube tests and semen analysis are not confirmed at Sinsoe. Ask before your visit
When to start

When to get a fertility check-up

You do not always need to wait 12 months. Start earlier in these situations.

Your situation When to see a doctor
Under 35, no known problems After 12 months of regular sex without contraception.
35 to 39 After 6 months of trying.
40 or older Before you start trying, or as soon as possible.
Irregular or no periods Now. Irregular ovulation, often from PCOS, is a common, treatable cause.
Endometriosis, fibroids or past pelvic infection Now, as these can affect the tubes or uterus.
Planning to delay pregnancy An AMH test gives a picture of your ovarian reserve today.
Get seen the same day if you have:
  • A positive pregnancy test with one-sided pain or bleeding
  • Severe pelvic pain during fertility medicine

These can be signs of ectopic pregnancy or ovarian hyperstimulation. If it is an emergency, go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Does Sinsoe offer IVF or IUI?

This is not confirmed. Sinsoe offers the first steps of a fertility work-up, such as AMH, hormone tests and ultrasound, and treats causes like fibroids and polyps. Message the coordinator and a doctor will tell you what is available or where to be referred.

How much is an AMH test in Seoul?

At Sinsoe Women's Clinic, the AMH test is ₩80,000, from the clinic's published fee schedule (June 2026); confirm before your visit.

What does a low AMH mean?

It means fewer eggs remain than average for your age. It does not mean you cannot get pregnant, but it can be a reason not to wait too long.

When should I see a doctor if I can't get pregnant?

After 12 months of trying if you are under 35, after 6 months if you are 35 to 39, and sooner if you are 40 or older or have irregular periods.

Can fibroids or polyps cause infertility?

Some can, especially those inside the uterine cavity. Removing them may help. Your doctor checks their position with ultrasound.

Should my partner be tested too?

Yes. Male factors are involved in many couples, so a semen analysis is an important early test.

Can tourists get fertility tests without Korean insurance?

Yes. Visitors pay as self-pay patients. Bring your passport.
