How it works

What is laser vaginal rejuvenation with MonaLisa Touch?

The MonaLisa Touch is a fractional CO2 laser designed for the vaginal wall. A slim probe is placed in the vagina and turned slowly through 360°, delivering laser energy in tiny dots with untouched tissue in between.

Those small points of controlled heat start a healing response. Over the following weeks the tissue builds new collagen and blood vessels, which can leave the vaginal lining thicker, more elastic and better at staying moist.

It is usually given as a short course of sessions a few weeks apart, then a top-up later if you need it. Your doctor sets the exact plan after examining you.

What it is used for Concerns the MonaLisa Touch may help

  • Vaginal dryness, itching or burning, often around menopause
  • Pain or discomfort during sex caused by thin, dry tissue
  • A mild feeling of looseness
  • Mild stress urinary incontinence, such as small leaks when you cough
  • Dryness after breast cancer treatment, when hormones are not an option

What it is not

  • Not a replacement for surgery when laxity or prolapse is marked. See vaginoplasty.
  • Not an instant result. Changes build up over weeks as new collagen forms
Is it right for you

Who is laser vaginal rejuvenation for?

The laser works on the quality of the vaginal lining. It suits some concerns better than others.

Situation How the laser may fit
Menopause dryness Often the main reason women choose it, especially if you prefer not to use, or cannot use, vaginal estrogen.
After childbirth May help a mild feeling of looseness. More marked laxity usually responds better to filler or surgery.
Mild leaks Small leaks with coughing or exercise may improve. Moderate or severe incontinence needs a full assessment.
After cancer treatment Some women with dryness after breast cancer treatment choose laser. Talk to your oncologist too.
Not suitable now Active infection, pregnancy, unexplained bleeding or an abnormal Pap result need attention first.

Your doctor examines you before the first session and may suggest a Pap test or ultrasound if you are due for one.

Get checked before any laser if you have:
  • Bleeding after menopause or between periods
  • Bleeding after sex
  • A lump, sore or a bulge in the vagina

These symptoms need a diagnosis first. Message us on WhatsApp to book an exam.
