Low libido is a lasting lack of interest in sex that bothers you or affects your relationship. It is common and usually has more than one cause, from hormones, pain or dryness to stress, tiredness and relationship issues. At Sinsoe Women's Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, the female sexual dysfunction clinic is run by female doctors who look at both physical and psychological causes, with an English-speaking coordinator by your side. Treatment may include medication, non-surgical care, surgery in specific cases, and counseling for you alone or with your partner.
Desire changes over a lifetime, and there is no "normal" amount of sex. Low libido becomes a problem when the loss of interest lasts for months and it bothers you. Doctors may call it low sexual desire or part of female sexual dysfunction.
The causes are often physical and psychological at the same time. Pain during sex, vaginal dryness, hormone changes, medicines or exhaustion can lower desire. So can stress, low mood, body image worries, past experiences or problems in the relationship.
Problems with arousal, orgasm and pain often go together with low desire. That is why your doctor asks about all of them, gently and in private.
Women of every age and relationship status come to us. You can come on your own or with a partner.
Your safety and wellbeing come first. Your doctor can help you find the right support, and in an emergency go to the nearest hospital.
Your plan is built around the causes your doctor finds. Many women combine more than one approach.
Depending on your tests and health, your doctor may discuss estrogen, testosterone, DHEA or medicine that improves blood flow. She explains the benefits and side effects of each first.
Hormone-related causesLove Fill-up filler, the MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser and stem-cell or growth-factor injections can help with dryness, sensation and laxity. See vaginal fillers.
Dryness, low sensationIn specific cases, vaginoplasty or clitoral hood surgery. Counseling, alone or as a couple, regenerating lubricants and vaginal care programs can support any plan.

Desire is complex, so results build over time. Here is what to expect, including side effects.
Can help when low hormones are part of the cause. Possible side effects include acne or extra hair with testosterone, and breast tenderness or spotting with estrogen.
Treating dryness, pain or laxity often brings desire back indirectly. Temporary soreness, swelling or spotting are possible.
Only when anatomy is part of the problem. Risks such as bleeding, infection and changes in sensation are explained in detail first.
Helps with stress, past experiences and communication. It is often the piece that makes other treatments work.

Bring your Alien Registration Card. Treatment usually needs a few follow-up visits, which we schedule around your work.
Bring your passport. A consultation and tests fit into one visit, with results and next steps shared by message.
The coordinator helps with booking and can join or wait outside, as you prefer. You can also write down what you want to say.

Yes. Low estrogen can cause dryness and pain, and testosterone plays a part in desire. Thyroid problems and some contraceptives can also lower libido. Blood tests can check this.
There is no single pill that works for everyone. Depending on the cause, your doctor may suggest hormone treatment, medicine that improves blood flow, or a change of contraception or other medicines.
